We were first introduced to outdoor sports when we were about five years old and have been hunting, fishing and trapping ever since. In the fall of 2001, after completing a successful hunt in northwest Nebraska, we realized that in order for us to afford to hunt elsewhere in the US, we were not going to be able to shoulder mount every trophy we brought home to Michigan.
It was on that hunting trip that we were first introduced to a European mount. The rancher had a collection of deer heads that he had found throughout the years of working his land. Some were in better shape then others, but it was surprising how well perserved the skulls were for being naturally cleaned by the weather and environment. Upon returning to Michigan we decided to have our first deer European-mounted by a taxidermist. Then we started to look at display options. The only solutions available at that time were wooden wall plaques, and to us these were not even an option. For us, the wall plaque took away from the look of the mount. Most plaques positioned the skull in the vertical position and were anatomically incorrect. There were wall plaques that positioned the skull in a more life-like position, but due to their design they were so big that they took away from the natural pose.
This is when we began the search for an alternative means of displaying our mounts. We knew the look we were searching for, the question was how to accomplish this? Thru trial and error, and the better part of two years work, we finally refined the bracket detail into the Euro Bracket you see today.
The bottom line? We are sportsmen that have hunted all over the US and know just how important each trophy and the memories associated with that trophy are. Why not preserve your memories with a realistic mount that you will enjoy for years to come?
